I have a friend who suffer like this, so at least I have an idea of how this author must feel with the stength and optimism of the hi's only to feel the pendulum swing and go down into the abyss of dispair and falling.
Aptly described, sincere . Keep going and keep writing!

I have read all three parts of this poem and must admit I am not a great authority on poetry. I think with me it's if the subject interests me I enjoy it and if It doesn't interest me it has the opposite effect..
I dont really feel I should judge your poetry. I know or gather it is about love and by the title I gather it is about an ogre {the bad?} and a sprite {the good}?
I can sometimes feel the rythmn in this piece and the feeling of love so I acknowledge it has merit. More than I feel, I am sure. Will read more of your work later. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

Review of Let's Take a Hike
Review by Maretta
Rated: ASR | (4.5)
This is a well written, educational, informative piece of work and kudos to you for
writing it. Maybe 10 years ago it would have given me food for thought and even now when I am in the English counryside on vacation I often wander thru -picking wild flowers but hiking is not on my list of things to do. - altho I sincerely hope it is not the twilight of my years
.
Perhaps, it is just the privilage of being older that makes one think of a cozy chair, a meaty novel or scary mystery. One or two trips to the ice machine to cool off the dwindling ice tea or if after five, gin and tonic and watching the sun go down.

However, all you guys 50 or under get out on thse trails for they do sound like fun.

Review of Special Delivery

I must say that I really enjoyed the well written, word painted description of the beach and the beach tree. I could picture it in my mind for once upon a time I lived in the Boston-Cape Cod area. It i so beautiful there.
The end startled me as I am sure it was meant too and made the Special Delivery of your title even more evil. Well done!

Review of Honor
Review by Maretta
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
Once again , on this Friday, I have come upon a rather unique philosophical poem. One I have had to read twice and my mind is still perking as I write this. I think I know the feeling this author is trying to get across and understand the mixed feelings as anyone in this present day world would.
I think honor is something we must each define for ourselves. I see honor in our men and women in the mideast as they do their duty to the best of their ability, perhaps not sure of what they are doing. I don't see honor in presidential campaigners throwing millions of dollars away for campaigns to sell themselves, whomever they may be ,when our men & women in the mideast do not even have all the equipment they need or there is not enough money for help for our veterans when they come home with problems.
I have seen homor in people with addiction problems willing to go through the hell they must to be rehabilitated. I have seen big business men cheat and steal and walk away with imunity. Who has honor in these situations.
For too long we have all gone our own way, taking care of the "me" and not caring about loving your neighbor as ourselves. Until we remember this there will be many, many more poems about honor but it will never be defined until this world changes.
This poem is well written andperhaps makes one feel even frenzied because as the author states,"Yes, honor is a most peculiar thing."

A well written tribute to our veterans from the beginnining of our country to today's brave men and women who are watching over us. No matter what our political
affiliations we honor them all and owe them a debt of gratitude as this author so aptly reminds us.

A sweet story of a little girl's first live parade and the thrill of hearing the Marine 's hymn and finally finding her Gran'pa in the marching men. As she calls to him, he smiles and winkks at her and she is caught up in love and pride for him. One of the moments in childhood which will probably remain always in her memory.
A well told story of what makes life worth living.

Review of Cemetery

This poem so beautifully written and says it all, the person you are seeking is in a far better place and not lying in a box. I have always wanted to tell people that I don't run to memorial gardens etc. because I speak to my husband and my dear son who who died just about two years ago with the feeling that they can hear me.
If I believed they were just lying there,I could not go on.
Lovingly expressed.

A lovely descriptive poem of the thoughts of the author as she waters her plants, feeling the summer breeze and noticing a woman who sits on her porch alone and isolated.
Rather than just observe this woman, the author takes time to breathe a prayer for her thus linking them both in the beauty of life. Lovely thought.

Great story. Unfortunately something that can and does happen to much in this day and age when so many judge without thinking. You surely deserved first prize in this contest and I feel fortunate to have placed second. Again kudos on a story that
is written well and has a grear moral "judge not that ye be not judged."

Review of Seeking Oneself

Altho- I am a long way away from being a rejected teen-ager, I can still remember the pressure of how important it wa to belong. In reviewing I come across many of these same feelings today. So, not to much has changed.
What I found so intriguing about this poem is the fact that the author did realize the pressure and envelop it for a time but realized by gaining some maturity {obviousely at a fairly early age] that as we grow older and move on we become our own person and as he so adeptley puts it "the need was gone."Kudos!

This is a beautiful poem-prose tribute to one of the world's greatest artists who just happens to be my favorite artist also, with a close second being Van Gogh.
This authors thoughts and descriptions of each section of Monet's "Water Lilies" is delicately thought out and wordpainted. I understand and agree with his assessment of this lovely work of art

A poignant tale of a man forgiving God for his mother's death as he sees his new son be born and realizes the gift given him. Always a difficult thing to learn but as when a boy he had to live thru the sorrow of his mother's death, now he will live thru the years of love he will he will enjoy with his sun.

Whether you are 3 feet away or 3000 miles away, when you are blessed to see a grand-child for the firsr time the shock, pleasure and beauty of it all are overwhelming. As the saying goes "You have to be there to feel it."
Lovingly said in those short 55 words.

Cool story! Great premise. Seems like these two still have a way to go before this story is finished but you left us at a great place to reflect on the ending. Can see why you won the contest.. Wonder what the picture was that you found your inspiration in.

An interesting and somewhat eye opening piece on how to get read and rated. It is true that everyone has their own views etc. on what they expect and it is always wise to read another's viewpoint on this and tuck it away for future reference.

Review of Blossoms Maligned

First review of the day and I find a great story. This story stands alone as it tells the growing story of young Tom and Sarah from friendship to love. It is well written and I was well on my way to ending a perfect love story when what to my surprise it turned into a nervewracking, frightening tale of one of the bazaar occurences that seem to happen all to often today.I should have have taken the hint from your bio that you are not always the purvayer of happy endings but I am still hoping for this one.
All preferences aside, this is a well written, expressed story with a surprising twist Enjoyed readig it and consider it very publishable.

Review of Chained

As you rea this story you realize that the author has written this as a word picture and I always find this most intriguing as the scenery, the characters, the trees etc. all come alive as you read. Although this is a sad ending and Willie walks up the stairs alone- one can picture the swags of wood Willie has carved while waiting as they are draped over the chairs, lampshades etc.

You have to have a 5.0 just for going thru this. You have described it so well.
This is a little odd but I am from upstate NY and witnessed the snowstorms etc you did and I also lived in Minnesota for 18 months and lived thru 9 tornadoes,Fortunately for us the only damage we had was a few crackedwindows and wet carpets but we saw huge trees snapped as though they were matchsticks etc. After the ninth I told my husband we were going back East and I have NEVER been sorry. This is a well written short piece and I identify with every word.

This is another very well expressed scenic story.{I do remember that it is taken from the picture of a woman standing on a pier} Your characters become very real and although this has a rather sad ending, somehow it feels as though Brooke will make out ok.

A lovely, sincere slice of life, loving family piece. Great descriptive feelings of the snow covered outside, warm descriptions of the cozy inside with the aroma of coffee and that wonderful pumpkinbread to share with the family. PLUS; the recipe to boot!
