Review of Innocence
Review by Maretta
Rated: E | (4.0)
A sweet remembrance of childhood and its innocence.
I am not a poet but this tells of your feeling of that time in your life and you have expressed it well. The only thing I would suggest is the spelling of weather, weather means the climate and you are looking for WHETHER as in far or near.
Keep writing!

Enjoyed chapter two also. Interesting characters, good story line, waiting for more to happen. I wonder how writing.com likes being the setting for a love story.

Really enjoyed reading chapter 1 of this story. I have often wondered if any romances started on this site. Looking forward to the next chapter, so that should say it all.

A sincere, beautifully written tribute to your mother. How wonderful to have her for your best friend and realize it in the present. A very moving piece.

Review of My Son

Rated: E | (4.5)
Beautiful piece expressing so well the love one has for their child. As this author writes, she is thinking back fourteen years but still this well loved son reminds her of the precious baby she could not leave and is always the same in her heart.
All mothers can understand this feeling.

Review of For I love

This poem is telling us of how sad and defeated we as humans feel today with all the horrors and misery that are in this world today. And yet the author promises that somehow we can rise above tthese "devilish deeds" and dazzle the heart, soothe the hurts, feed the children, love every man and begin a new day.
The melodious words of love and peace in this poem . Maretta

Review of BLUE BOOKCASE
Review by Maretta
Rated: E | (5.0)
Thi is such a loving story of grand-uncle and the love he had for you. The wonderful secret he told the two of you was, as you say, something you will carry with you always. The promise of the bookcase he would make for you must have been very important to him. I feel he has told you many truths and you are wise to realize it. and tell others how important each one of us are. Thank you for a lovely story.

Review of Please Choose Me
Review by Maretta

This is a well written , poignant story of a little boy who wants a home badly. He knows he's in the running but is afraid ,Mrs. Swift the woman who handles adoptians will forget to tell of abilities she doesn't know about and so unable to control himself he bursts ino the office too claim "I can clean and love animals."
He is then sent to wait outside and somehow I feel, as his short little legs, dangle from the orange armchair, his dream will be realized and he and Maria will become the family each of them need. I hope so, I love happy endings.

I have had such a lovely day reviewing today and your loving, well deserved tribute to your grand-mother is surely a fitting way to end the day. Anyone, who has taught a young person the values she taught you has fullfilled and made both your 's a nd her own life a life worth living. How could you not miss her, yet how blessed you were too have her and hold her in your heart.
Maretta
Oops, almost forgot to say,In the third paragraph you say,"she drug me to church on Sunday." I think TOOK or another word of your choosing would make this moving tribute perfect.

Review of THE OBVIOUS AMISS
Review by Maretta
Rated: E | (4.5)
This poem say so much to me that I am afraid I will misinterpret it.
I will take the chance and say to me this poem means honor our soldiers who are sent to fight a war that is useless, whose lives are lost and counted and forgotten so quickly, that they in the hollow graves are the innocent, along with the thousands of other innocent people [as innocent as ours' in the world trade center}.
Where are our leaders and why do we follow them so blindly???
Help us help ourselves . Our dignity like false pride is so unimportant.
If anyone has seen the musical play "1776" John Adams pleads ,as he sings, "Is anybody There?. Does anybody care?. I thinkis the question still worthy of being answered today.

Review of FALSE
Review by Maretta

I really like this poem. Maybe because I too have wondered so many times why couples seem to have nothing to say to each other. As a writer I imagine stories about them. He has lost his job. She is breaking yp with him. Their oldest child has beeen arrested for drugs. etc. and so forth. Makes life interesting.
Love your "pretend" conversation and obserrvaions. Well said! One can almost imagine a blus singer crooning this tune.

This poem achingly asks {as do many of us} when and where can we find peace in this world? It asks, when can the gruesome war torn sounds be stilled and peace not be too lofty a goal. I wish I could reassure this author. I don't know how except to pray with her,"Where are our hearts and where ARE our souls.

Review of Dad gets One Hour
Review by Maretta
Rated: E | (4.5)
A well written, descriptive, self satisfying answer to many fathers who have struggled daily with "life". An hour of being in complete control of the tv and the remote.Power!
I can't help but feel if one was writing about mom , it woule be the complete antithesis, a warm bath,a candle or two, time alone when one could let go and dream a dream or two.
All accomplishing the same freedom of spirit needed.

Review of Defining Moments

I am going on now to review others, but found myself again perusing your writings.
We can always learn another lesson, can't we? And we are also human and can get carried away so I guess you have to chalk it up to that.
How blessed to have your "Angel" and find your inner self and how rewarding!
I'm sure these were bright and special times in this young mans life, and in yours.

Maretta here, decided to read another piece of your work. I must say, I enjoyed it
thoroughly. Altho- I am not a poet, I felt this poem was written with such truth, honesty, sincerity and yes! I find the tongue in cheek humor in the part where you describe of your writing changing people's viewpoints.
Although, I certainly can understand them loving your work.
God has blessd you with a talent.

Once more, we have an author writing of the horrors and indignities of slowly watching a brilliant, loving relative descend into the darkness of alzheimer's disease. This story is well written as we are taken on this sad journey.
Unfortunately, as in most, giving no answers, for none are available. This family , however, cares deeply and one knows they will face the future with patience and love.

Review of Too Early
Review by Maretta
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
I really think this piece of writing is quite remarkable. A well written dialogue between an ailing brother{ I'm assuming he has aids} and his little sister as he tries to explain to her why he is dying.
He explains to her that he isn't sure he can be her guardian angel because he doesn't know if God will forgive him but his sister assures him he will be the prettiest angel in Heaven .
And as usual "a little child "with a pure heart and a belief in the kindness and mercy of God gets it right.

Review of My Love For You
Review by Maretta
Rated: E | (4.0)
When I review poetry, I usually say I am not a poet {although reviewing poetry has made me want to try it} so I am not up on all the rights or wrongs. I go for more what appeals to me.
This poem immediately says to me it is a declaration, an affirmation the work of someone who is madly in love. In each stanza she tells of her feelings and that her love cannot be disguised. Probably, I have read more "love" poems than any others and I somehow feel each one is unique to the person writing it and their feelings.

Review of Dream Catcher.
Review by Maretta
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This piece is very dark and sad. The depths of the dispair of the author is well expressed. It is evident that she is trying to hang on to any brief moment of happiness to keep her going.
Although, I feel the writing has merit, this seems more a journal or diary entry.
I hope you will keep writing and find happiness and enjoyment in sharing it.

Review of The Old Oak Tree
Review by Maretta
Rated: E | (5.0)
A great tale of the venerable, beautiful oak. These trees always do have that magical aura around them My adult son has a special oak tree h visits on the top of a high hill in Pa. He goes there in the summer and the fall to contemplate and always brings me an acorn or two. Enjoyed this whimsical, well written piece.
Stop at my port soon and keep writing!

I thought this was a very good survey because if we really think about it we have to realize that most people believe what they are taught as children. However, when we are grown and start to think for ourselves we form our own opinions and then decide what is right for us.
Religion {and I am a believer} probably causes more dissent and wars than any thing else in this world. Mainly because of so many feeling "Believe as I believe or else} Personally, to me religion is "Doing unto others as you would like to be treated and don't judge lest you be judged. It would seem an easy road to travel but look where we are today.
