Review of R U COMING?
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This is a tender, heartwarming story! The writer reaches right into the reader's heart. The description of the constancy of the daughter's singing and the expectation that her father will come touch the reader's soul. The ending is nice and it solidifies the demonstration of love that both the daughter and father have for each other.

This is a fine piece! The writer gives an excellent description of a young boy who admires his uncle. The young boy identifies with the love that his uncle has for him by talking about playing with his uncle in the past. The pride that the boy has comes through in the description of how his uncle did tours in Nam and came home and told the story. The involvement of his uncle with him and the delight of sitting across from his uncle is evident.

This is a soothing, calming and powerful story! The writer paints a picture of someone whose body shows it pain and carries a poison. The description of the water is beautiful and pure; evoking images of peace and gentleness and calmness. The reader can picture the removal of the grief and rage through the writer's description of the woman bathing in the water after shedding her tears. The therapeutic impact of the water comes through loud and clear; as does the message of cleansing one of the anger before bathning in the healing water.

Review of The Ex-Box

This is a strange and interesting story! The writer certainly presents a new view for the reader in terms of video geeks! The story is full of surprise twists and turns and there is a certain reality that comes to mind. Such reality is that of being totally ignored when in the midst of a friend totallky immersed into the video game! Irritation comes and then annoyance. What an interesting turn in this story that the victim becomes the one who is punished!

Review of At two

This does make me smile and it tells the story of wonder and enchantment that belongs to the young.
The imitation of and wonderment at the world comes through. I like the use of the umbilical cord for certainly; childproofing everything and keeping a watchful eye on the two year old is now only required but is essential as the grown-up world is explored by the two year old.

Review of Hush Now
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 18+ | (4.5)
This is a moving, tear-jerking, tragic poem! The author says a lot and yet the theme seems to be that of pain! The pain of watching parents fight; the pain that even the close friendship could not end and the agony that seems to have existed; an agony so strong and permeating that it tore through the very being and brought about a premature demise. How sad and yet how moving that even with the anguish; tenderness was shared; love was felt! This is a powerful poem indeed!

This is an interesting poem! The author appears to be confused and angry and looking for identification.
The confusion is implied in the questioning of the motive of drinking and in the statement about the swimming keyboard. It may be that even the writing only comes about when alcohol is involved. As for anger it seems to come through; at least to me; even though the writer expresses the desire to care enough to get mad. I think the writer does care but is
saddened by the drinking and looking for understanding from someone else who also drinks or did drink for relief.

Review of Before I Sleep
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 18+ | (4.0)
This is a thought provoking poem! As I read the author's depiction of life certainly was vivid and spoke to a harsh reality. The author's words are from a very different world than the one that Frost depicted. I remember Frost's The Road Not Taken and Good Fences Make Good Neighbors. These certainly express the idea of choice and barriers. However, this author identifies different forms of barriers. It also seems that for this author; beauty is not that evident but sin and unwholesomeness stands out the most. This makes me sad and yet I empathize with the author and certainly respect the feelings contained within.

What a sad, yet passionate love poem! The author's description of a marriage that seemed ideal really moved me! The dedication, love, loyalty, endurance and pledge comes through in the author's descriptive language. The power and intensity of love also is evident. The betrayal that comes in secret, only to be revealed in public is depicted as a dagger in the hand of the groom. Sadness and loss is the outcome and tragic for a devoted heart!

Review of Amazing
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.5)
This poem is very real and very moving! It certainly is very different! The reason that this is different in that the author speaks outside of the norm in terms of standards and values. This author speaks about inner beauty and about rising about the usual easy to recognize values. The beauty of honesty and of in depth introspection is true and brings a wisdom that lasts forever. This is the message that I get from this poem and it is a valued one indeed.

Review of Needs to end!
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (3.5)
This is an interesting and a little confusing towards the end! The author clearly describes the power that her mother's voice has over her. The fear of the tone of the voice is also clear as someone about to be eaten by a tiger is given as an example. The idea of conflict came to me when the author spoke about her mother's look. Mothers do have power and authority over us and sometimes words do not come easily so the expression sends its own message. I am not sure of what happened in this case.

This is a simply everything review!

This is a touching story about a mother's love for her daughter! The author gives an excellent description of the mother's love and devotion and connection to her daughter. There is also a gentleness that comes through as the mother speaks of the love that she has for her daughter and guardian angels watching over her. The depth of the love of the mother for her daughter is very intesne and comes through in the story!

Review of my brother.
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is an interesting and compelling story! The author makes a connection between the physical pain of one brother and the emotional pain of the other! The reader is drawn into the intensity of the connection by the details given. The end of the story
is confusing but what I found myself thinking that both brothers experienced the final bond.

Review of Saved By Art

Rated: 18+ | (4.5)
This is a moving and powerful story! It certainly speaks to the pursuing of a dream; even in the midst of despair and hopelessness! The perserverance that the author had; eventually paid off and indeed it is a possiblew for dreams to come true. It takes faith, fortitude and perserverance and this story presents an excellent example of these traits.

This is an interesting story! The author describes a close and somewhat forbidden relationship between two friends! The intimate moments are stolen as if to hide their feelings from the rest of the world. The statement about kissing in front of an old couple; to show the world speaks to the wish to be bold and free with their relationship. In the end, only wishes and make-believe solidified a relationship that would not be accepted in the world that they knew.

Review of The Best Gift
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This is a strong and powerful poem! The author does an excellent job of describing a city and all the things that plague it. There is also a description of change that takes place as the person observes and is motivated to get involved and take a stand for situations and events that are unhealthy. The poem also speaks about images and what lies beneath them. It is a strong poem and conveys a clear and articulate message!

Review of Time
Review by dreamlike
Rated: ASR | (4.0)
This is an interesting poem! It addresses that constant and moving and flowing element which is time. Time progresses always and makes its mark on all of us. It does not hesitate; evaluate or proscratinate. It merely moves always and in all ways. Time makes itself known and does not have to answer to any human being. The universe is its playground.

Review of I wait

What a sad, yet moving poem! Loss of a loved one is always painful. How agonizing must be the loss of a child! The author appears to be angry and hurt and disappointed in the world. Innocence is certainly for the children and it alone does not guarantee that there will be no suffering. The author feels very intensely and experiences the loss deeply within their being. Therefore the quest for some symbol of the loss loved one who is no more.

Review of Ramadan 2011

This is an interesting informative piece! My youngest son is Muslim and it was interesting to read about the holiday and the significance. Although I am Christian, I still found the information interesting and I was able to make Biblical connections for myself! I liked the fact that there is an emphasis on kindness and reverence!

Review of The Struggle
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.5)
What a heart-warming, empathy provoking story! The author paints a vivid picture of her son and his autism. Empathy is evoked and although I do not claim to know how the mother feels; I certainly can feel for her and realize that she is experiencing a lot of pain. The lack of interaction between a parent and child; strikes my mind as I remember how we take for granted the normal development and interplay between parent and child. What courage and committment and understanding; in spite of the inner pain; this mother exemplifies! There is a lesson to be learned and it is that nothing should be taken for granted in a parent/child's relationship. This story also has a humbling effect on me and creates a real appreciation of being blessed with a regular relationship with my own children.

This is a powerful story! The author addresses the life/death situation in a pragmatic way! Things manage to be shifted as a result of the diagnosis. It is sad but at the same time; it gives a different perspective for it lets the man know that our fate can change at any moment so what may seem foolish at one moment may be worth the risk as life shifts.

Review of Large Bills First
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This is a realistic story! The author includes details that a reader can connect to. There is also the sadness of a grandmother being responsible for a troubled youth and being caught. I say caught because the grandmother has raised her own child and is a different generation; faced with troubled times and adolescence. I felt empathy for the grandmother as she had done her best but due to circumstances beyond her control found herself in a no win situation.

Review of Being Bipolar

What a moving and powerful story! The author's courage to share the details and impact of the illness is inspiring! It is touching to read the trials and episodes that were endured. The ability to continue to search for a way to live and to become the best person possible; in spite of the errors of those who overmedicated embodies a special type of inner strength. I am happy that a quiet peace and way of being was found after a painful struggle.

This is an interesting story! The author introduces excitement and drama from the beginning of the story. As the man hangs in mid-air and sees the glove that he had given to his friend; a sense of sadness and loss came over me. There is also a sense of adventure and daring expressed in the telling of the tale of the hiking. The ending contained sadness and the desire to comfort; as well as the yearning to hold onto the thirst for adventure sometime in the future.

Review of The Other Brother
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 18+ | (4.0)
This is a passionate and stirring story! The author portrays a young man who seemed trapped even as a child. The sobbbing and coughing that plagued him as a young boy troubled his small body. Surely the separation from the family that loved him; the sisters that cherished him and held him dear to their heart; was the final blow. The bond that had been created was broken when the young boy was removed and life played its part in destruction of the innocence. I think that things may have turned out different if the child had been adopted when he was little. Prison did not have to be the home; if only! How sad!
