My life in Tel Aviv. Welcome to Israel! |
Shalom! I was born outside of Haifa, moved to Tel Aviv when I was twelve, and served in the Israeli Defense Force for two years. Now, I am a student at TAU. I hope I can show the world the humanity of my nation. We're not so different, after all.

My roommate is having loud sex. With Yoav. Remember Yoav? Oh, Sarah. How quickly you will learn that some sins just cannot go unnoticed. Shalom, world. Noa is looking for a bit of revenge. Anyone want to become a bit more Jewish? I LOVE Tel Aviv! |
My entire life, there has been almost no street violence here in Israel. No murders, no rapes, no kidnappings...Israelis have lived, side by side, and nobody hurt anybody. Even when the Russians all came in the 1990's, or when the Ethiopians started coming a few years ago. No violence. And now, in the last year, we have had murders and horrible crimes. Why all of a sudden do people want to hurt one another? Our terrorist neighbors, yes, but not our fellow Israelis! Like what just happened: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1255694827197&pagename=JPost%2FJPArti... My grandfather thinks it is because of what people see in the army. Everyone sees this, and then they are like haunted later? I saw things that keep me awake sometimes but not enough to hurt any other Jew. I don't understand. Also today I bought a fish and named him TziTzi. |
Feeling better . Some drunk people outside my apartment. Amusing to listen to. 56% of American Jews would very much like Israel to bomb Iran. This is very easy for all 56% of them to say, considering all 56% are not Israeli. What is more important: intuition, or logic? Shabbat shalom! |
For a horrible, terrible moment today I thought that I had lost my brother. It was a complete misunderstanding but there was a moment where everything stopped and it was like nothing was real? And I found out that I had horribly misunderstood but it took me hours to stop shaking. Being sick, being horrified, then being so, so relieved? I need to breathe and I need to sleep. |
Turkey? Really? What do we do to you, Turkey? Meanwhile, France has decided we are going to bomb Iran after December. I am glad they are allowing for a sufficient amount of time for Chanukkah celebrations. I wonder if Netanyahu and the Knesset are aware of this deadline? We might want to get on that. Deadline is approaching. Sarcasm. Still have bronchitis. Irritable. Don't mess with me kind of mood. I am angry Jewish woman. Fear me! Eh. |
Sick . Bronchitis. Don't tell my mother. How do you make yourself feel better when you don't feel well? |
Did you know Jesus Christ was born in a cave, not a stable? Jewish holidays are very simple: you get a candle, you light it. You get bread. You eat too much of it. Or you starve yourself for a day or three. One of the two. You either light a candle and starve or you light a candle and eat an exorbitant amount of food. Back to school on the 18th . If anyone is interested in attending Tel Aviv Uni (best in the world!), you have to have your Hebrew test turned in by January 20th. This is the email I recieved this morning. We are trying to attract more international students, but people seem to think Israel is dangerous. This is not so true. I live here, don't I? Tonight I am staying in and reading a book. With no distractions. This is my plan. |
Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize? Why? Because he gave a few hundred speeches on peace? I realize Israel is not exactly a country that can speak on the beauty of peace having never experienced such a thing, but what? I am very not happy. Look: I, Noa, would like to see the cessation of war, poverty, genocide, and disease. Maybe in two years or six years or eight years or ten years he will have achieved some peace, but right now he has not. Not in the Middle East, at least. Peace is not saying you intend to end a war--it's ending it. Peace is not saying you intend to stop the hatred of the people--it's stopping it. Anyway, an Israeli won a Nobel Prize for chemistry. Ptzatzot lagabot! Why do we only win in science? |
Got into a debate today with a friend. Question: Should prisoners be allowed to vote in elections? Noa's answer: Yes, because incarceration does not eliminate one's citizenship. As defined by the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, everyone has the right to a nationality. And since, in a democratic society, voting is not a privelege, but a right, it cannot be taken away by the established state. I would like to point out that, in Israel, most of our prisoners are Arab and do not vote anyway because they have rejected citizenship and live in occupied territories. Criminality in America is also very different than criminality in Israel. Your thoughts? |
Shalom! You are reading the words of Tel Aviv's greatest Matkot player with the name Achinoam. That's right--me! Today I not only won the Matkot championship, I dominated it. I was the game. Much fun! I also perhaps exchanged hot words with the woman at a bank. She said that I could not fill out a form without another form, but all the information that was on my missing form was also in her account. Also I had my identification and everything else. I was missing one form, so I had to go back to my apartment and then take the bus all the way back. This is expensive! I spend money getting to the bank. What do I put into my bank account? Tonight I watched a movie that was called "Hannah and Her Sisters". It was American and it was really funny. I had much enjoyment for it, and also with the guy I watched it with. His name is Yossi. The stars are beautiful tonight! Also it is not a good thing for me to drink. |
