Washington Day 47
Isn't virtual time travel the best? Now, I've skipped ahead in my own personal itinerary. I'm in Washington. Just as cycling is behind me, so too has kayaking washed away. For this blog I can certainly balance within a bobbing kayak and ignore my obnoxious, objecting knees. So much is possible in the imagination. Lyn's a Witchy Woman is a kayaking marvel! Her vessel obeys her every command. For the sake of this excursion I scrabble, er, um, paddle along in her wake. She is an inspiration. The ocean is a shimmering mirror, a pristine 'puddle'. Floating is one of those serene sensations. Sorry, but I believe I frightened away the seals, porpoises and whales. I admit that last one surprised me. I thought whales liked to sing? Was my voice really that objectionable? I couldn't help myself. I felt the moment called for a rousing round of my paddles keen and bright flashing with silver follow the wild goose flight, dip, dip, and swing. Okay, I didn't espy geese, but there were birds. I cannot fully blame the swooping eagles. Something plopped next to me. I'm as certain as I can be that my paddle did not splash me. I abstained from singing at The Whale Museum. Those gargantuan skeletons inspired reverence. How does anything that immense manage to move? The amount of water they must displace is mind boggling. I must praise the Woodland Park and Rose Garden in Seattle. The rainbow of gorgeous roses is stunning. My eyes enjoyed their feast. Today's jaunt reminded me of similar experiences on Vancouver Island. Breathtaking. Beautiful.
