The Pendulum
I haven't posted for some time now. Happiness is not conducive to creativity in my world. These days, I prefer to bury my head in the sand and pretend/hope that everything (on the world scene) will be OK. It doesn't pay to worry (or look at too much news). When I see the protests in the streets, I know that activism is the right thing to do, but, in my opinion, it won't solve the issues that face not just America, but the world.

Things are coming to a head, and that may be a good thing. A reset will do the environment no harm, and for us old folk, well, we have lived our lives, and death is not that far away for us anyway.

That may sound pessimistic, but optimism (like woke) was an ideology that held on too long without effort or thought of how things might actually play out. The pendulum that began to swing in the 60s in favour of victims of domestic violence, homophobia, and countless other worthy members of society, hit its peak around the time of Trump's first term, and what we are seeing now is a result of the backlash that was inevitably to follow.

America has its problems...almost daily mass shootings, a government that seems intent on authoritarianism, a cost of living crisis that is born from wealth inequality...the list goes on. An escalation of the war in Europe appears almost certain. The entire Middle East vs Israel and things, on the whole, look bleak.

There's another reason I haven't posted for a while...what does it matter what I say? You will either agree or disagree, but I will never know because no one (or at least, very few) will say a word. It's not like I have an audience anyway, and as I wrote that, I was on the verge of copy-pasting, making it a file on my PC for future reference.

I doubt I will post again, here or anywhere else...I mean, what's the point? I just thought of the scene from Mony Python's Life of Brian, where all the prophets are lined up and down the street spewing their own interpretations of how it is...and I, for one, am ready to get down from my soapbox and let what will be, be.
