"Agnes, did you hear what happened?"

Agnes stopped pecking. "No, Fanny-Mae, something happened?"

"Yeah, Rufus crowed!"

Agnes clapped her wings together. "Oh my, Little Rufus finally crowed!"

"Yeah, but that isn't all."

"There's more?"

"Farmer Mac threw a boot at him."

"Rufus dodged it right?"

"Afraid not, Rufus caught it in the beak."

“Well, I’m not surprised Farmer Mac threw the boot, but however did he manage to hit Rufus? He never hit Chuck.”

“I heard that Chuck ended up in a pot.”

“Why would they eat him?”

“All I know is that Rufus should probably stop crowing at dawn.”
