For Valentine's Day, I will play along with "A Dozen Roses Contest" |
A black rose symbolizes death, farewell. For Day 7, write a poem (or prose) involving love through/during death, farewell. Black Roses Beneath the fertile soil in the garden of my life Lay the precious seed of hopes and dreams; an amnesty from strife Assured my treasured promise in just weeks would start to bloom Counting eight months down, the joys I’d found felt deep within the womb Knotted, twisting, snarled roots; suffocating breath Right before his birth day, he experienced his death Overture caught in a loop lamenting shriveled shoot Sadness choked me; farewells whispered, rendering me mute Eight black roses in my grip whose thorns pierce mourning skin Stand for his life without which my tomorrow must begin.
