Windmill

This is written for prompt 5 of "Promptly Poetry Challenge (2025-2026)" . Prompt: Write a poem at least 12 lines long with the word "windmill."


The broken windmill casts a shadow
falling on the stone,
deep in darkest, moonlit night,
standing all alone.

The crows come home at night to gossip
of the dead they gleaned,
no one asks them where they've gone,
horrors that they've seen.

The watchful eye of Dutch creation,
solitary in the field,
overlooking all the crows,
destiny fulfilled.
