The Proposal

This is a poem written for Prompt 8 of the 2023 round of "Promptly Poetry Challenge (2025-2026)" . Write an Arquain poem. Arquain is a simple syllabic verse form with only the 7 syllables lines rhymed. created by Madison Shaw aka Arkbear @ All Poety. The elements of the Arquain are:

A verse form made up of 3 quatrains. (12 lines total)
Syllabic: syllables per line 1-2-3-4 5-7-7-5 4-3-2-1
Rhyme: xxxx xaax xxxx , x being unrhymed.

Fear,
in waves,
flowing through
him as I sit,

wondering if I
will agree to be his wife
as he asks me for my life
while he proposes
