in my frenzied youth I chose another.
Fifty years gone by and still, dreams of you.
Two marriages in, and yet, I wonder.

Would my life be better, saner, clearer
had I held you fast and not let you go.
Old memories are sweeter and dearer.
I cannot change the past, I cannot know.

I sense you out there in the multiverse
a click away on Facebook and Twitter.
Not for me this social media curse,
all that's shiny is fool's gold and glitter.

I will continue to remember you.
