Ants ... and Cicadas
Ants--they are out en masse here in south-central Missouri.

The entire South is a-buzz with the (pending) onslaught of cicadas. Perhaps we're lucky (knock on wood) that we haven't seen any cicadas in our neighborhood yet.

But ants, on the other have invaded yard, hearth and home. After some recent very heavy rains (five inches plus), we discovered anthills too numerous to count in our yard. Now the little buggers have found their way into the house.  While that happens occasionally throughout the year, they've never made it to the fireplace before. Yeah, I thought that strange too ... but it's true.

It's the same hearth where I set my laptop each evening rather than on the table, which the cat might knock over (a much longer story). Having seen an occasional ant crawling on my laptop, I'm reminded of that age-old question:

How does one fumigate a laptop?
