Silence

Scientists say
in two hours of silence
mice can regenerate neurons.
At night, with two hours of silence
under the runway of the Milky Way
I strain to hear
the light balls of stars,
and the floating notes
of poinciana and magnolia blossoms.
There is no true silence here,
wind rustle, frog bustle.
My spirit remembers,
Ave Maria, gracia plenar.
Deep in my hippocampus
I hear my rodent synapses returning.
