| Describe the cultural, political and/or religious setting in your novel, regardless of whether the cultural setting is fictional, historical, or modern. (1) What do your societies believe? The main setting will be on an inherited property on the outskirts of a small town. The small town will be a mostly friendly little town with a dark past and a few little secrets. They will be a Christian community that isn't everything it would like to seem to be. (2) In what practices do they engage? A large majority attend the large church on the other side of the town. (3) What laws or rules of society are in place? I'm thinking I will go with a setting of a bit of an older society but in a modern setting. Some of their ideals and values are that of the older generation. (4) Who/what enforces the laws and rules and how successful are they? There will be a small but somewhat corrupt police presence at a small police department near the center of town. (5) What technologies are in use? cell phones, laptops, modern technologies (6) How does the setting impact your protagonist(s) in their pre-story lives? They are originally from a large city. This small town vibe will take a bit of getting used to. (7) How does the setting impact the plot of your story? It sets it up rather nicely with plenty of secrets, shady intentions, and mystery. ![]() |
