Horsons Part 4

“Are you trying to steal my cookie?” Greta asked, half-joking, half-accusatory, one eyebrow lifting as she leaned against the counter.

“No,” Molly said quickly, a little too quickly. She gave an awkward laugh, hands raised in mock innocence. “Just… admiring it.”

Greta’s smile spread slow and deliberate. She reached into the jar, lifted the cookie between two fingers, and studied Molly’s face as if weighing a decision. Molly shifted her weight, suddenly very aware of how close Greta stood.

“Oh?” Greta murmured.

She ran her tongue along the edge of the cookie—unhurried, exaggerated—never breaking eye contact. Molly froze, color creeping into her cheeks, unsure whether to laugh or look away. Greta chuckled, clearly enjoying the effect, and dropped the cookie back into the jar with a soft clink.

“There,” Greta said lightly, dusting her fingers together. “All yours.”

Molly stared at the jar, then back at Greta, groaning. “You’re impossible.”

Greta just laughed again, warm and victorious, and turned back to whatever she’d been doing, leaving Molly to decide whether the cookie was still worth it.
