Turkey Talk

Nov. 17, 2025

"Oh what a beautiful morning!" exclaimed Dirk the happy turkey. "And here comes that sweet old lady, Trudy the food lady. "
"Mm-mh! That is some chop corn dream girl." added Huey the Ten pound idol of the girl turkeys.
The other turkeys ran up to the part of the yard where Trudy was carrying a big pail of chopped corn. "Come children. Eat your fill and get some rest because tomorrow is the day when we will pick the best." Sprinkle. Sprinkle!
"Hey yea." murmured Huey. He strutted up to an untouched pile of corn and started picking up the pretty yellow corn. Smack. Smack.
"Hey Girls." shouted Dirk. "Come see who can get got 15 pounds the fastest."
"Honey! Are you crazy?" Paula retorted. " Do you remember Jumping Joe who weighed in at 14 1/2 pounds last year?"
"Uh huh." answered Huey.
"Well after he ate, the old lady took him into the back yard and we think rung his neck. The screams were heard for 5 minutes and then nothing."
"Nothing?" Bart who wandered up to join the meal.
"Oh yes. And I saw a whole pile of feathers on the ground." Cindy added." One was all brown like Joe had. No one has seen him since.." Her voice tapered off with a choked teary voice.
"Oh no! And I remember that it was after a cold spell." Bart added.
"Oh my gosh.!" Dirk started looking around. "Where can we hide?"
"We never learned to fly. So let's go over to Mr. Dennis's house. " whispered Huey. "I heard that they are Vegans."
"That means that they will only eat animals whose names start with a ''v."
"No you stupid turkey. It means that they eat turkeys whose names start with a 'v'. "said Bart.
"Oh no!" screamed Dirk. "It's every turkey for himself. Run!" as he started checking his legs out.
"I'm going to hide under the henhouse!" moaned Cindy.
"I think the cow in the barn will help me. She owes me a favor!" Said Trey who was listening.
"On the count of 3. 1.....2.....3...GOOOOOO!" shouted Bart.
Now who was the guest for the next day's meal?
You will have to wait until Thanksgiving Day to find out!
