A Blog on Biblical thoughts |
| Jesus answered the question of who my neighbor is but one's brother is a little more exclusive. I believe my brother spiritually is saved gentiles and saved and unsaved Jews. While the only family that will inherit eternal life are those who receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior, Jews by virtue of the promise are my spiritual brothers. This means that even more than my neighbors, I am obligated to look after family. While Paul was speaking of earthly family in need in 1 Timothy 5:7-8, we are to accord our spiritual brothers a set aside care which is beyond even that required for our neighbors. To deny the needs of any of my brothers to the extent of spiritual obligations is to deny my Lord. All individuals who truly belong to the Lord are specially anointed as we as belivers are priest as ar the people of Israel to unbelieving gentiles. All have the special duty of pointing the world to God. We are of course responsible for our actions and should be opposed when wrong but none of us should treat lightly the idea of wronging any of our brothers for we all bear the calling of God. Much like David was leery of harming saul in spite of the former kings’ persecution. |
