My right patella was broken on 1/12/03. This is about the recovery process. |
I only have good news to report on this end. My knee looks great and it is healing just fine. He had one of his two very nice nurses take a few x-rays and the pins and wires were still in place and it showed the patella was actually healing, thankfully. To tell you the truth I would have been really shocked if things were not in place. I had already told my husband that if the doctor had given me bad news again he would have to reserve a room in a psyche facility near my psychiatrist because I would need her and a padded room. I got the good news I wanted so no worries. I should have had the doctor put the dang cast on in the first place. Never again will I let the doctor start with a brace first on my right leg -- maybe on my good left leg --- but never my right leg that has cerebral palsy. The whole thing was bad news in the first place. Not to mentioned that the brace would crumble along with my leg when I fell, the few times that I did fall while wearing the thing. I go back in three weeks and by then it will be 6.5 weeks and maybe the cast will be able to be taken off although I would still like to wait the extra week and a half extra just to be safe and make it exactly eight weeks because I know the doctor and all the nurses in the hospital would rather not see me again for a very long time. And quite frankly, if I ever see them again it would be too soon. |
