A blog of no uncertain musings. What goes on in my mind is often a source of wonder to me. |
I was chatting with a good friend this morning, and somehow the subject of "End Times" came up. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how we got to that topic--we were talking about reviewing. It started with a less-than-favorable review moving to a somewhat derogatory sexual comment to which society's acceptance of certain sexual preferences was discussed. That led to talk of the present ills of current society and life today in general. Of course with the economy in the toilet, our current educational woes, the burgeoning energy crisis, worldwide hunger, and the ever present war and strife around the globe--it makes perfect sense now. You've heard the comments: "Oh, this is the end times. The signs are everywhere." You might have even said it. Well, I've heard them too--over and over. A number of folk at my church are quite fond of repeating it. Sorry, guys, but BUNK! Every age, era, and civilization is filled with pestilence, hunger, povrety, strife and war. Somewhere in my studies of history (yep--I majored in History in college ... fat lot of good that did me, huh ![]() ![]() I have to agree with my friend's answer to her folks: "Man, you guys have been saying that since I was a baby in diapers. People have thought since the beginning of time that Christ was coming back. I'm not gonna worry about it 'cuz there's nothing I can do to change what's gonna happen." Then again, I'm not naive enough to totally discount that this might be the "End Times." ![]() |
