A blog of no uncertain musings. What goes on in my mind is often a source of wonder to me.

Reviewing Revelation
It's funny how some things just pop into my head, and I have to go "waste" my time checking it out.

This month I started reviewing again ... seriously.  I joined WDC on 2 May 2008 and did my first review twenty-six days later.  In the following seven months I completed more than 800 reviews.  Then I did as many of you have done--I got involved in other things.  Groups, auctions, contests ... uh, writing!  Hello!  I did only 300 reviews in all of 2009, a far cry from the 1250 goal I set for myself.  And I missed reviewing.

The strange thing is I really have no more time to do reviews ... those of you who know me know I take my time with them.  I just made it more of a priority.  My revelation?

In the last fifteen days, I have made more than 51,000 gift points while completing 37 reviews.  True, the lion's share has come from credits and rewards from membership in the "SIMPLY POSITIVE GROUPOpen in new Window..  But I've received points from many other sources:  the WDC  "Daily Review RewardsOpen in new Window., the WDC "The Review MixerOpen in new Window.,  folks I've reviewed, specialized groups that reward individual reviewers, and other anonymous folks who just like to read and credit reviews.  And none of these points came from doing Auto-Reward reviews, which can really increase your bank.

The bottom line is reviewing is not only a great way to meet other writers while improving your own writing skills (after all, you really have to know what you're saying is correct when you put yourself on the line like this), but it can be very lucrative.

Think about it--meet new folks, improve your writing skills, make lots of gift points, and pay for your own upgrade.  At the very least, you'll be giving back to a community that offers a support platform for your writing unmatched anywhere else.

Happy reviewing!
