A blog of no uncertain musings. What goes on in my mind is often a source of wonder to me. |
I've just finished writing my 2012 Dear Me letter, and submitted it to the "Dear Me: Official WDC Contest" ![]() Wow! What a journey this has been! Never in my wildest dreams had I thought what a change this organization could have made in my life. I've always been creative with my hands--I've been a woodworker for more than 35 years, the past twenty professionally. Since joining WDC, I've embraced the creative side of my mind as well, even branching out in a style I'd once thought out of reach--poetry. And the people here ... ohmigod, what an encouraging and helpful lot! I count many of the folks I've met here as my closest friends. Your honesty and support has helped me grow immensely as a writer. I've also been humbled as I saw myself first, promoted to Preferred Author by folks I greatly admire who saw something in this "young," unpolished writer, and later, selected as a Moderator by those same rather intuitive folks. ![]() Before beginning this year's letter, I took time to re-read my earlier letters. For those mildly interested, the first three are: 2009:
2010:
2011:
Ironically, each of those letters placed second in the "Dear Me: Official WDC Contest" ![]() ![]() Anyway, I discovered that more often than not, I followed through on my resolutions and goals. I think that's pretty good for someone who has never really completed those resolutions made in years past. Still, the biggest writing goal I have has not yet been met. That's the goal I'll pursue this year. Publication. Perhaps you might check out the latest installment of my Dear Me saga.
I keep hearing the best goals are one's placed high enough to make the journey worth the trip, yet low enough to be achievable. I believe I've found that happy medium. I will be published this year! |
