Officially, I'm 4 years old on WDC today. I thought it might be interesting to find out what happened on this date in history. May 2, 1670: The Hudson's Bay Company is chartered. May 2, 1863: Confederates deliver blow to Union at Chancellorsville. May 2, 1918: GM buys Chevrolet to become the largest auto company in the world. May 2, 1936: Manuscript of Edna St. Vincent Millay's Conversations at Midnight destroyed in hotel fire. She re-creates it and publishes it the following year. May 2, 1945: German troops in Italy surrender to the Allies ending World War II in Europe. May 2, 1972: An era ends at the FBI: J. Edgar Hoover dies. May 2, 2008: Iron Man is released AND I join Writing.Com. Whoo Hoo!! ![]() May 2, 2011: Osama bin Laden is killed by U.S. forces. Pulitzer prizes awarded on May 2: 1932 to Pearl S Buck (The Good Earth) 1938 to Thornton Wilder (Our Town) 1949 to Arthur Miller (Death of a Salesman) 1955 to Tennessee Williams (Cat on Hot Tin Roof) 1960 to Allen Drury (Advise & Consent) On another note, yesterday, I receive my first rejection letter.
