7:45PM It's Creation Saturday! "Future Imperfect" - write a story or poem about what these two words could mean. Include some elements from your real life. "Even in the future nothing works."- Spaceballs (Specifically Dark Helmet) Every so often, one catches a sci-fi show- Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, or other space shows. Often times there's a big battle- filled with noise and explosions, because silence is boring- with neither ship taking damage- or at least the main Hero/Villain ship- until someone make that lucky shot- by firing a laser down a ventilation shaft that's two feet in diameter and goes directly to the power core- obviously someone overlooked that little detail when they were building the thing. Truth be told, when Earth people start making the equivalents of battlestars, and other such space fighters, I doubt we'll be making mistakes like that- ours will be different- possibly worse. Contact with other races will be interesting- might be conflict, or peace. Trick will be trying to stand on our feet. Of course, given humanity's track record, one kind of wonders. Many stories have the Earth being enslaved by a powerful race. Others have Earth at the head of a Federation, or an Empire. Always interesting. PS. If my post gets picked as this week's winner, I'll take an Awardicon. Proud founder and member of the following group. May others join this fantastic group.
