A blog of no uncertain musings. What goes on in my mind is often a source of wonder to me. |
| What's your opinion of reality TV? Love it, hate it, indifferent to it? Why? I can't say I've ever been a fan of reality TV. I never saw any socially redeeming value in such shows. I'd much rather watch some totally unbelieveable, stunt packed action show. However, and it's funny how one's views get reorganized due to love, my lovely, new bride is absolutely hooked on Survivor , The Amazing Race, Chopped, and Cutthroat Kitchen. She records them so she can fast forward through the commercials to maintain that excitement edge. Personally, I think some of the commercials are great. But I will admit some, just some parts pique my interest. But I can never fathom any kind of strategy that everyone else seems to get. All that said, I do like Alaska: The Last Frontier. Pitting yourself against the wilds to survive has always interested me. And the characters just come across as real--I can feel their pain and laugh at their foibles. I want to be there. I guess it's true--there's no accounting for taste. I'd suspect there are more than 25 different reality shows on TV these days ranging from the tropics to the swamps to the arctic to a pawn shop to someone's over-stuffed closet. Uh, maybe 25 is too conservative. Anyone really know??? |
