A blog of no uncertain musings. What goes on in my mind is often a source of wonder to me. |
DAY 14: Your best friend is a brilliant scientist who just invented a time machine. He's given you the opportunity to go back in time and witness (but not interact with) any significant moment/event in history. Which moment/event would you choose to see first-hand and why? As a self-professed student of history, this is a tough decision. I majored in History in college though I never had occasion to use those skills. There are literally too many significant events in history from which to choose to view just one. I'm afraid I'd be pestering my friend ad nauseum. I've always wanted to know what happened to the lost colony of Roanoke. The colony pre-dated the landing at Plymouth and was the first English attempt to establish a permanent colony in the New World. Weather and the ensuing war with Spain (the Spanish Armada fiasco) delayed resupply of the colony for three years. When ships returned, the colonists had disappeared without a trace. Some day I'll pen the what-if story that's been kicking around my head about this colony. Oh to have the time to just write.... |
