The Shooter
Shooters form like tornados
we can’t stop;
there is no warning system.

Heat and cold, un-mixed
erupt; “welcome to you,
but not to you.”
Warm hand, cold gun, raging bullet.
“He alone bares the blame” says the Times.
“It’s the situation” says the social scientist.
“It’s the Devil” says the preacher.
"We need sensible gun laws" says the politician.
"Protect the right to bear arms" says the gun fancier.
“He did this to me” says the victim.

Alone he has lived and
alone he has died.
“Atone alone, young shooter.
You are not one of us.”

Shooter says:
“That’s right. I am not one of you.
I cannot atone for what you have not done.”
