Christ's Sacrifice for the Ungodly - October 28

Christ's Sacrifice for the Ungodly

…It is rare indeed for anyone to die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him!… ~Romans 5:7-9

He took our place, paid our penalty... while we were yet in our trespasses and sin.

He considered us His little brothers and sisters... we couldn't, weren't able to atone for our own sin-----so He did it for us. He paved our way to the Father.

Jesus is known by many names --- He is the bridge, He is a way-maker, He is the rose of Sharon, the lily of the valley, the bright morning star. He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He is the Great Intercessor, He is our advocate to the Father (our defense attorney, if you will), always pleading our case to the Father. He is the sacrificial Lamb. He maintained all purity so that He could be the perfect Lamb that was needed to atone for our sin. He is our all-in-all.

He that knew no sin, became sin so that we might become the righteousness of God. ~2 Corinthians 5:21

Ambassadors for Christ

…Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: Be reconciled to God. God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. ~2 Corinthians 5:20-21

When we come to God, we come just as we are... He then works in us to clean us up. We never serve God alone. His Holy Spirit works in and through us to make us into His image. Our own righteousness---in and of ourselves---is as filthy rags. We are totally dependent upon Him to make us the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus, our Lord.

The coming is the turning point... when we make a conscious decision to turn from our own path to Him and His path for us. When we come to Him, we are saying, "I'm all in, Jesus. I've tried going it alone and it hasn't worked----I'm unsatisfied, naked, undone. Make me clean, transform me, use me for your Glory."

Jesus loves you!
