We Do Not Know How To Forgive

Christ--
hanging on the cross--
knew how to forgive,
as drop by drop His blood
baptized the planet.

The Bab--
suspended in the market square
waiting for musket balls
to penetrate His body--
knew how to forgive.

Baha'u'llah--
forty years a prisoner,
an exile--
knew how to forgive.
