An Act of Self-Discovery:
A Metaphor

The cat litter needs cleaning!

Taking
a slotted spatula,
chunk by chunk I sift the waste;
chunk by chunk I pace the waste
into a plastic grocery bag.

Pouring
fresh litter into the pan
I use the spatula
to smooth the sand.

Tying
the plastic bag shut
I carry it to the alley
for the garbage truck to pickup.
