Earliest Memory

Darkness,
tree shadows cast by the moonlight,
riding in Grandpa's car,
going to my cousin's farm,
playing hide-and-seek,
hiding in an old Frigidaire,
and Grandpa finding me.

Grandpa
standing outside the refrigerator
and pulling me out:
my guardian angel.
