Lei: Christmas In the Navy

Christmas holiday
I must spend away
this year.
Chilling ocean spray
will be our display
austere.
Sending love your way
while we're underway,
my dear.

Form: Lai
The Lai is a very old French form and tradition states that the short line must not be indented, it must be left dressed to the poem. This is known as Arbre Fourchu (Forked Tree) there is a pattern meant to be set up as a tree.

Number of Lines: 9

Rules:
This poem is comprising of a five syllabled couplet followed by a two-syllable line.

Rhyme Scheme: a. a. b. a. a. b. a. a. b.

Choices for the poets to make this week: Your poem can be about any topic.
Additionally, your poem may be any length, however, each stanza must have nine lines.

EXAMPLE:

For Thee

Greater love have I
Than stars in the sky
For thee
"til this world doth die
hope you wish to lie
With me
On wings we will fly
upwards bye and bye
Earth free.
