| The rocks were blue and yellow teeth gnashing on the riverbank, stained by the trade. The colors of the leathers washed out to sea with the tide. And on the other side, the beach where, as children, we splashed and squealed. Horseshoe crabs still live in the shallows, But the tannery is condos now.
