Balancing Acts

the liar seeks to ease his burden, but
every lie is a weight that upon its telling
begins to fall and must be supported
counterbalanced and then built upon
until the maintenance of the structure
requires regular reinforcement
he imagines it to be an impenetrable wall
but i can see right through him
