October 11 is "It's My Party Day". What are you celebrating?

It's my party day,
I'm too tired to party,
so I'll quietly celebrate
the bounty of fall.

I'm too tired to party because this morning I waited in line for two or three hours to pick up two pounds of food at one of the food pantries in Las Vegas. It was worth the wait and the weariness. I received a dozen eggs, some full cooked frozen sausage patties, a glass jar of pasta sauce (the pasta sauces in the glass jars are better those that in the cans), and several other food items that are too expensive for me to purchase at the grocery store.

I'm too tired to party,
but I'll cook myself a feast
fit for a queen.

I was able to get some small potatoes, carrots, an onion, and a large flat piece of beef that looks like some type of roast. The meat will fit in my electric skillet, so I can put it on in the morning. Then I will cut up the carrots, the onion, and wash the potatoes before adding those to the skillet. It will take all day for it to cook, but that is all right. I can have it for supper tomorrow and all day on Sunday.

I'm too tired to party
and too tired to think,
so I will count my blessing
while fixing something to eat.

Thought of the Day: "If I were invited to a dinner party with my characters, I wouldn't show up." - Dr Seuss
