Very interesting reading. I haven't heard of many of those shows..I don't watch much TV anymore but some sound interesting. I'm hoping to see the new superman movie.

When I read this entry, I kind of thought you'd mention something like FairVote or Unite America. These organizations focus on systemic issues within voting (such as allowing for ranked choice voting and pushing for open primaries in all 50 states). I know that these types of efforts are where I tend to devote my time, energy, and potentially money. (Right now, I already support a number of local organizations, including nonprofit media outlets, so the funds are spread fairly wide.)

We, the maximum number of people, want to do something for the society. That is our wish. If I had sufficient money, we would wish to utilize those in a specific field. That may be person to person; even from time to time our preference may change. That happens in the blogger's and his wife's life. They now can think more deeply. Time is the best teacher. So they learn more with the growing experiences, and the certain changes in their desires come. What an impressive blog post.

I live alone. I enjoyed sharing a place with Pannya in Thailand and would rather share a place than living alone. It's hard for me to go out and eat with someone though. I really like meeting new people and am frugal to a fault.

I watch movies et cetera at home on youtube. I'd love to have someone to share with but no one here IRL or online at WDC wants any interaction. I cope through the kindness of strangers.

I am alone now and I like it! The kast few years have been filled with stress family issues and financial issues. I now live in an RV on my brother's property and I love it. It is peaceful calm and quiet! If i want company I walk next door to visit my sister in law who was my best friend and then she married my brother! I dont go to movies much cause there isn't much on that i care to see. It's all about where you are comfortable.

Our Monday night five-man bowling team used to go to Trivia Night at our local bar every Wednesday night. Like you, Jeff, I know a little about many topics and do alright. But we had one guy who was a sport's fanatic--any sport, any team. I can't recall Tom getting any sport's question wrong in a year and half of playing. What fun times those were.

I think I would do okay with relatively mainstream movies, and should score well in geography (thank you, "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?"!). Of course, there will be unexpected gaps even in those categories, so...

My heart is still in Kansas. Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin might suit me fine. I really want to visit Kentucky. If I had six months to spare I could learn a lot in Utah or Alabama.

There are places in UK and Canada that may work for me. I don't mind having to speak another language. Portugal is my #1. I could live in Lillehammer, Norway or Göteborg, Sweden.

Further afield... I want to go back to: Nara, Japan; Novi Pazar, Serbia; Sofia, Bulgaria; Roi Et, Thailand; ChiaYi, Taiwan, Ciudad Quesada (San Carlos) and Turrialba, Costa Rica.

Places I haven't been: Senegal, Rwanda, Malawi, Kenya, Fiji, the Stans of Central Asia...

I can tolerate discomfort but would prefer a place where I don't have to fight for my right to exist (I've earned it). That's for younger people. I prefer diverse places where I'm just another odd duck to be cherished or ignored. I'd rather be somewhere without nobility and serfs. Inequity fosters instability. I want to be included and not shunned (for whatever reason). tolerance is a virtue imho.

Bored is Boring

Prompt for Day 2639: Bored? “I’m never bored anywhere; being bored is an insult to oneself.” — Jules Renard. Do you feel bored sometimes? What bores you?

Like anyone else, boredom is a thing that happens to me occasionally. Sometimes there are moments when I'm not particularly motived to do anything and find myself succumbing to boredom, but not all that often. As long as I have certain amenities — internet, someone to have a conversation with, something to read, etc. — I can keep myself occupied for long stretches of time. There are almost always several projects that I'm fiddling around with, things that I want to research or learn about, and random activities or interests that I'm eager to look into. There literally are not enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do, so I don't often find myself bored when I have time to kill; that's just time I can be using to check off one of the many things on my to-do list!

The things that do bore me are situations where I'm not particularly engaged or interested in what's going on, but can't (or shouldn't) pass the time by focusing on other interests. I often find myself bored at social functions, in meetings, during school events, etc., especially if those things are slow-moving. The bane of my existence is corporate nonsense like town halls or training modules. A lot of that stuff is just so predictable and goes so slow I find myself easily prone to boredom in those situations. It's one of the reasons why I actually really like remote work; it's so much easier to pass the time and keep myself engaged in other interests when I can have a corporate all-hands Zoom meeting up on one screen, and a couple of websites up on another.
