Each day for twelve days we were given a prompt based on a colored rose and the symbols associated with it. There is poetry here, short stories, and blog/journal entries. The genres covered include romance, erotica, horror, and memoir. -- NO! The erotica isn't also memoir! -- I hope you read through these entries. No story is greater than 2000 words, no poem more than 10 lines.
I'd love to hear your reactions, so take a moment to leave me a comment!
Thanks, Hailey! I'll tell you what, I have never written erotica before. It was good for me to move outside my comfort zone, especially because I am working on my first novel and plan to weave a love story through the plot. I need a lot more practice -- but now that I've gotten my feet wet, the next time should be easier
Thanks for this exercise -- It helped me a lot!
Nicki
Thanks! I realized I had an extra syllable in the "R" line, and that "first birthday" didn't reflect my intention that the baby died near the end of the pregnancy. (tired muse last night )
This poem was inspired by events just before the holidays, when my friend and next door neighbor lost her baby boy two days before the scheduled c-section. It was heartbreaking, and came immediately to mind when I read the prompt for Day 7.
Ooh! I hadn't thought about that... Maybe she was his old girlfriend! And the nurse said she was a "single mom..." A lot can happen in two years time, long enough for her to have developed a serious relationship with her new lover, have a child, and for the relationship to have ended (badly).
Although I didn't have your ending in mind, I think that is the way this story should end. Thanks!
