My random thoughts and reactions to my everyday life. The voices like a forum.

I do not know quite what happened or when , but my hubby and I now qualify for seniors' discounts at some venues. This creates a quandary; in order to save money, but not face, we have to admit to our age. HMMMM..... We definitely do not consider ourselves to be old. In this day and age ,when people as a whole are living longer and healthier lives why are 'young seniors', those in their fifties, like moi, considered 'old'?? It's so true that age is just a perception! "Maturity" is very objective/subjective, and I object! Whew, a few years have skittered by since I composed this biography block. Those "fifties" are in the rear view mirror and they are distant, fond memories. Oh, I do not plan to stop writing any time soon.

PROMPT: Motivational Monday! Actor/Podcastor Michael Rapaport, born on this day in 1970, once said, "I think if you go into something looking at people as better than you, if you give people too much respect, I don't think it benefits you or them." What's your take on this perspective? Have you ever been in a position where someone you've really looked up to has expressed admiration of your work as a writer?
Hmm, I believe Michael is attempting to tell us that we are all good enough, smart enough, talented enough, whatever. No one is superior. No one deserves to be elevated to a podium where they are worshiped. Idols and heroes are ordinary people, no more deserving of respect than any one else. He's an actor working in show 'biz'. Think of the fans who idolize actors and actresses. What are they reacting to, what do they see? What makes an acting professional worthy of adoring fans? Isn't this 'love' misplaced? It's not based on reality. It's based on a persona, an image, not an actual person.
Aren't we all created equal? I believe we should respect each other, and the respect should be mutual. No one should feel less worthy, or inferior to someone else. Respect is acceptance, and tolerance.
I've been lucky enough to have the owner/editor of a small newspaper appreciate, and print my writing. When I was a student, teachers and professors seemed to like my writing. Family members profess tolerance for my writing; it seems to amuse them.
