| Hi y'all on this Sunday afternoon π. Kudos π to y'all that hang in there with me π and let me know your still there βΊοΈ! Yup it means a lot to have good conversations and connections with folks, when others even family aren't so close! I'm very blessed to have a core of family in touch. Love is thicker than blood many times. You can be closer to some and not even be related! So tomorrow will trade my prescription for a good one! Can't believe Dr forgot to write βοΈ four times a day.which in Latin is Q.I.D. ! I took medical terminology to become a Nurse! Besides all that nonsense, today is a day of remembrance for me. My then 18 years old little brother Jeffrey was killed 42 years ago today. I some ways it feels like an eternity ago, but in my photogenic mind it also seems like yesterday. Certain moments are like little videos in my mind, snippets of the spring π± of 1982. I had moved up to Oregon the year before to get my babies and myself out of San Francisco and the abusive relationship I wanted out from. My step sister had made the move with her future hubby. It was a big change from city life to the rural mountains life in southern Oregon! I remember my 2 year old daughter falling into the mud and she was wearing light blue shirt and pants. Now covered in brown muck! I was about to get her changed but my sis said " Why? Why put on more clean clothes? She's going to keep playing and they all get dirty anyway! It took me a minute to get her point! I was so used to making sure my kids were clean and looked nice to ride the bus to the store or wherever we were going. As I looked around the kids were all ages and having the time of their life! Yeah wearing mud but laughing and it was warm outside. It was harder for me to adjust to the fact, not everyone had indoor plumbing! They were living in a tiny trailer and when I asked " where's the bathroom?" She handed me a coffee can! I thought she was joking but she pointed her fingers to the outside bushes and I got the point! In time I got a small apartment in the town of Myrtle Creek. We had a backyard and I was starting a garden, which was exciting to think we could grow our own tomatoes and such. That April I got a phone call about my mother. My aunt said " Your mother jumped off the roof again". I said " is she alright? ( I had nursed her around 1972,as a teenager and she did recover for the most part...) My Aunt sounded annoyed ( like I should have known what she was saying) " No she's dead and you have to get her buried" Later my uncle S would explain I needed to take a Greyhound to New York and I was next of kin, to be able and get her a Free Jewish Burial. Besides being in shock I thought it odd, the Free Jewish Burial thing. She taught me more about Jesus and what little she knew about the Catholic Church, from a long-lost friend named Jenny. I never met her but as a child, she took me to a beautiful Catholic Church on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn. It was always empty when we went. I loved the red glass votive candles and the big Jesus hanging on the cross. She would pray for him to help her and sometimes said " He's my brother" So I did go to NY and it was a mess me going to an Orthodox Jewish burial! I had been to a non religious Jewish funeral for my grandma but nothing prepared me for that. The worst part was having the Rabbi yell at me for trying to say goodbye to my mom. I wasn't supposed to look at her grave but did and he snapped " Are you going to watch as we put dirt on her grave?!" πͺ¦ Like it was the worst thing I could do. I ran off towards the back to hide and cry. My brother Jeffrey came over and put his arms around me and said" it's ok Diane, you didn't do nothing wrong,he should shut up!" My other brother said " not to worry". Flash forward to when I got back home to Oregon a few days later. I had a dream about Jeffrey. That I was walking through an alley and going to his funeral. Mrs Fox who was a friend from the Seventh Day Adventist Church told me" Not to worry about the dream. It was because I had just lost my mother." My mom passed April 10th . May 18 was a sunny day and a Tuesday ( later I would write βοΈ that in a song). We were out in the budding garden and they were playing with Gardner snakes ( little harmless one's) The phone rang and I went inside to answer. A friend from Brooklyn said "Diane please sit down " Her voice was weeping and I knew it was something very bad. "What's wrong Sherry?" I Asked. She told me " D I know how much you love your brother Jeffrey and he loved you. He's dead . It happened last night,he was killed on the Belt Parkway by the Verrazano bridge. I can't believe I lived through all that. I didn't expect to write about it here but,in my mind I always expected to write βοΈ about my real life. In the last year I decided not to because someone said no one would care. I also had to deal with my lousy health issues lol π. I'm still hopeful to write more. I will see how it goes from this post. I know some will be blown away but I hope people will get something positive out of it. Somehow I always kept my faith. Even if it changed from Jewish to Catholic and back and forth! Or Buddhist prayers ππΉπΏ! Or good majick for healing and prosperity for us and others. Oops I have to feed the kitty's, don't know how long I've been writing. It helped ππβ€οΈπΉπΆπΏππΎπͺ¦π±πΈπ»π€ |
| Well, hi y'all! It's been a busy time here. Sometimes you get so much going on, you need time to process it! When you don't, your doing and moving and then get too tired to share anything ππ! You take notes πΆ in your book and next thing you know,3 days passed and you want to write βοΈ about what happened today not yesterday. I haven't been writing much online except to say hey to folks and thanks! I had a few curve balls come my way ( which took a lot of time that could have been spent on writing my blog or an email to a friend. I had my monthly appointment for pain management and the doctor didn't write down any directions. The pharmacy called me and said I had to bring the prescription back to him and get a another one. I saw him Tuesday and today got it, but can't get to the Dr office until next Monday. I have to give 2 days notice to request a ride. I'm thankful because it would be around $40 bucks to take Uber. A penny saved is a penny earned! I'm looking into getting a 61 keyboard πΉ! It's going to be awhile before I can get a guitar replacement! I'm super happy about having a way to make music πΆ again!! I miss a lot of people here and hoping things will even out and will be spending more time here and on writing projects π! Hugs π€ Speak soon! |
| Hi π y'all π€ ! The thunder βοΈ storms blew in after midnight and as peaceful as falling rain can be,loud thunder β‘ can be annoying when it keeps waking ya up πΉ! Got to sleep in till 7:30 past 2 days so yay for that! Usually Our " rooster" π kitty Maxy starts meowing very loud π’ between 6:22 AM and 7! Feed the kitty's and have coffee β start the day! We did laundry on Monday and finally got it put away. So was not impressed with Alexa π on Amazon echo dot... I was hoping it would make things easier if it could replace the remote pretty much. Talk π¦ and go! Nope didn't happen and she's in the box waiting for a box and label to get returned. It took time to hook up Amazon, Samsung TV Alexa app ( pretty much useless...) In the end over the past two weeks,it was more a pain in the butt than helpful. It couldn't go from the home screen to Roku most of the time. Could not open-play- TV shows except a couple times. The trouble started one night, trying to get her to "Alexa open Dark Winds on Roku. ( It's also AMC+ through Roku!) Instead Alexa told me about" The Dark Wind is a novel by Tony Hillerman in a set of books by him. I put it in your cart do you want to buy it now?" I yelled NO ALEXA π ! DON'T BUY THE BOOK! She responded "ok" I looked at Cheryl and said " π WTF??? She did WHAT,?. Sure enough I looked at my Amazon cart and the novel was there from Alexa 2 minutes ago. ( Today on a news ticker saw a child had ordered 70,000 lollipops for 4 grand on Amazon...) Back in 2020 I was staying with my dear friend Mabs in Washington State. She had Alexa but used it to turn on the lights,play a song and other helpful things but it didn't try to sell her anything... In the past 2 weeks, when asking for the daily horoscope ( sometimes she says it but most times -) Either she don't remember being asked for Sagittarius or offers to sell us a subscription to a daily horoscope. It got super out of hand, she would play music that we didn't ask for and wanted us to order the album. So I did some digging this morning and found out, after 2014 and later in 2022 she was being programmed to sell us stuff. I even found out that if you don't have Amazon prime, you will pay $19.99 a month for her service. Whoa can you believe that? People had posted those problems and more , trying to figure out how to reprogram her. I tried to teach her new skills but the app was dumb! I couldn't get her to open a show, but could get her to tell me what movies were playing in our area. So it's like she can't remember anything we say, but she remembers to sell us crap! Or play music that sucks, that I never asked for or heard! Instead of helping my sister with low vision, she's not doing much but aggravating us! Who needs that?! So beware of Alexa cause she can be dangerous... I kid you not π«. I'm doing ok except for the number the weather is causing my spine. From ok to a sledgehammer π¨! Does anyone remember that song? On a serious note,has anyone watched The TV show Dark Winds? It's an excellent show and is true to the different Native American cultures. I learned so much from it already. Some unbelievably awful,how Native woman in the 1970s were led to give birth in hospitals, rather than home birthing, because they made a law, giving permission to sterilize woman. Without their knowledge or consent. It's a mystery show with a strong cast and compelling storylines. It's filming it's fourth season after just ending it's third. It took 30 years for it to become a TV show!!! Thanks to George RR Martin and Robert Redford and others who saw the Merit in this huge project. Bless em all! | Hi y'all ππ€ , Thanks for all your comments βΊοΈπ and good energy last post! I'm still playing catch-up with getting back to my sweet π§ peeps here and in real-time! I'm asking for prayers ππΉ for our sister here Sunny. She lost her brother and sister-in-law very recently. My heart goes out to her and her family. I can so understand her pain and loss. I lost many of my family members during the spring from the years 1967-2020. One day I will write βοΈ about it here. For now I'm thankful to focus on the good things in my life and going forward β©β€οΈ. Things are going well with the healing process and I was working on an entry for the Prince contest! At first I wanted to refresh my mind with his music and learn more about him. I'm usually more into facts than fiction (it was about writing a poem or story, using his song titles as inspiration! Very clever and π cool idea by Princess Megan Rose   !)It was a great distraction from my health problems and a blessing to think about fun things and music πΆ again. I couldn't find my way to go beyond the facts to something creative and almost gave up but she inspired me so much I wrote something off the cuff and entered it after all! The other entries were awesome and didn't expect to win at all, but I had an Honorable Mention and music π΅ MB from Hooves and bless them both! It so made my day and beyond! I'm ( hopefully!) including it here and hope you enjoy it π! My coding is improving! Looking forward to Getting my Merit badges turned into real ones for my MB Awardicon album! I finally got one from our WDC gift shop and will be sharing the ones I have gotten in the mail π and on my bulletin board! It will be nice to give them a worthy home! It's very good quality. In time I'm going to replace my guitar! For now I'm working on my portfolio. And started reviewing again. I'm very proud of our granddaughter Kat and her getting closer to her certification to be a mentor/peer counselor for troubled teens. She's already helping a 16 year old girl. ( I found out she was at the house and cut her finger,my grandson had learned from me what to do and he was able to help her, with his skills set! Very proud π¦ of him too.β€οΈπ Kat will be 21 ( I started my WDC account the year she was born!) She really wanted a pair of Hello Kitty sneakers. So we made sure she did and she's a very happy camper. She's also working on her GED and deserves them! ( I'm a big fan of Hello Kitty myself! My room is part HK!) So I hope everyone is doing good π and I'm sending hugs π€! Enjoy
