Whispers, warmth, and the things that could make life glow.

Welcome to My Private Whispers and Light Blog

Some places we create just for breathing — quiet corners where our thoughts settle, our hearts speak, and the small, bright things in life finally get a voice.
This is mine.

Here, I’m gathering the pieces that make my world feel warm and whole:

• the love of my life and my family
• art in every color and every form
• photos, quotes, and little scribbles that catch me at the soul
• Bible verses that steady me
• daydreams, hopes, and the questions that keep me curious
• wolves, birds, cats, and the creatures I’ve loved since childhood
• podcasts I adore, memes that make me wheeze
• and the writing that threads it all together ✍🏻

I’ve carried these whispers for a long time — tucked into journals, hidden in drafts, scattered across platforms.
Now they finally have a home.

If you’ve wandered in, welcome.
Maybe you came for a poem, a thought, a spark… or maybe curiosity just nudged you here. Whatever the reason, I’m glad you stopped for a moment.

I hope something in this little corner lifts you, warms you, or at least makes you smile.
And if not… well, at least you’ll get to wonder why on earth you’re reading this jumble of thoughts and ideas. 🤣

Either way, the door’s open.

From some site I found:

Back in the 1980s, Yosemite National Park was having a serious problem with bears: They would wander into campgrounds and break into the garbage bins. This put both bears and people at risk. So the Park Service started installing armored garbage cans that were tricky to open—you had to swing a latch, align two bits of handle, that sort of thing. But it turns out it’s actually quite tricky to get the design of these cans just right. Make it too complex and people can’t get them open to put away their garbage in the first place. Said one park ranger, “There is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists.”

Them Bears are smart!! I remember when we would go to Yosemite, they would have Bear education classes and teach you never to leave your smellables in your car. In the early days of Yosemite, people would do that all the time and Bears would go though the cars. I think you can even find older videos on You Tube with Bears going through cars back in the day at Yosemite.

I had a desire to eventually earn a living (or a supplemental income) as a Freelance Writer.

I have lots of things I wanted to share with the world at large—both as an RN, BSN and as a older woman...

I have not managed to share much of anything outside of WdC...

AND, trying to put my thoughts on paper has ALWAYS been a struggle for me...

There have been times when suddenly the words would just flow but I have never been able to make that happen...

These days, it often seems like it takes so much effort, it is not worth it. And, it also has seemed as though my voice is not needed...

However, recently these words from Agnes de Mille's "Martha: The Life and Work of Martha Graham" spoke to me:

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. As for you. . . you have a peculiar and unusual gift, and you have so far used about one-third of your talent.”

Those words resonated with me...

I believe them to be true...

Do you write because it is a requirement of a job? I am sorry that the act of writing does not bring you joy.

You are fortunate. I wish I loved writing. For me, writing feels like torture.

I love some of the things I have written but I do not enjoy the act of writing itself.

It's Flu Season

I’m a bit under the weather and moving slowly right now while I nurse a sinus infection. I may need to stay offline for a couple of days, but I will do my best to check email when I can.
