Recreating the Wheel Contest

What an exceptional lesson idea! It has something for everyone, adaptable to all ages & any learning style. It even covers public speaking! I am already planning ways to coerce our homeschool buddies & neighbor kids around here into participating in this. It would make a great home school cooperative activity! Surveying could be done via e-mail so that kids (or relatives) geographically distant could participate, too. I can foresee certain entrepreneurial kids turning this into a little home business- kind of a twist on the traditional lemonade stand?

The only weakness I see, as a home school mom, is having multiple kids experimenting simultaneaously in the kitchen. I'd have to schedule the kids spread out over a week, I think. If we get this going as a group activity, I may suggest that each FAMILY create a cookie recipe instead of each individual.
