A reviewing forum for those interested in improving their reviewing skills. |
This is a great question! My answer is all of the above for more extensive reviews only. But, I would like to add that those who don't necessarily have those skills are still the audience. Even if they don't understand how to analyze or use those elements described here, letting the writer know what they liked or didn't like is very helpful. For example, if someone does not write poetry, they may not understand how to review things like meter, yet they can share the emotions that the writing provokes. Another example would be someone who does not understand element terms for short stories, yet they can let us know parts that are confusing or areas that are drawn out too much, boring for the reader. All reviews are helpful, whenever a reviewer leaves feedback to the best of their knowledge and ability. As a writer, I appreciate all of them. On another note, for those of us striving to be better writers, reviewing can help us learn these elements, hence improving our own writing skills.
