Reviewing with River

The primary distinction between a chapter of a novel and short stories or poetry is its segmental characteristic. As part of a larger piece of work, we must examine the elements of consistency and continuity, in addition to the development of character and plot normally considered while reviewing complete works. Is the segue from one chapter to another smooth or abrupt? Does the chapter end in a manner that will propel the reader forward into the next?
