Here's one I wrote just a while back -- Pain, Anger, Acceptance I asked Pain why it stabbed me so because I thought that I should know. My Anger added its two cents, speaking out in my defense. “She’s sick and tired of you; now, go! You’ve pounded her, throe after throe.” But pain was not impressed at all. “I like to see her limp and crawl.” I saw Anger begin to steam. and glared with burning laser beam. Pain taunted, “Nothing to do, Sir, to make me walk away from her.” Anger knew that Pain was right -- I had to take the grief and bite. So, Anger howled and shook its fist to think my pain would not desist. Then, Acceptance stepped right in and calmed my bitterness within. “It’s time to give Anger a rest. Just relax and do your best. It seems that Pain will stay a while, a part of life, a stressful trial. But if you let your Anger grow, it might take hold and not let go. You have blessings, great and small, so, thank the Lord for one and all.” At last, my Anger took a stay although Pain didn’t go away. Now, when Pain brings stress and strife, I dwell on good things in my life. ~ ~ ~ 30 lines Poet’s Place Café prompt: Think of some emotion, such as joy, sorrow, rage, serenity, etc. Write a poem from the perspective of that emotion.
