When you return with the garbage bags, your mom gave you 'the look' and you knew she wanted you to continue to help Jane bring up the stuff from the car. "OK Daniel," she began, "Now it is time to get rid of all your old stuff. I want you to do it." Mom then handed Daniel the first garbage bag. She then beckoned Daniel to come to his chest of drawers. "We will need the space for your new stuff, so everything must go." Daniel opened the top drawer which contained his underwear and socks and carefully place the items into the bag. "You don't have to be so gentle, you won't be needing any of that stuff again." So Daniel started to just dump his old clothes into the bag willy-nilly. Soon the first drawer was emptied and then she had him move to the next drawer. The garbage back quickly filled and another was obtained. When his drawers were empty of all his clothes. He was directed to his closet and soon all of that stuff was also dumped into the garbage bags.
Daniel thought he was finished once all his clothes were in the bag, but next mom indicated Daniel's Xbox and all of his games. Then his books and all of his personal items. Daniel's computer wouldn't be thrown out but Daniel wouldn't use it again until all of the programs on it were appropriate for a toddler. Pretty soon, all of Daniel's old life was tossed away into the garbage bags. This included the sheets on his bed.
You and Jane had carried more packages into Daniel's room. There was only a few items left in the car. "Jane can finish up," mom said to you. "I want you to start folding the stuff and putting them into Daniel's drawers" (which were now empty.) mom told you.
