"Um, Emily." You answer, actually scuffing your feet against your mother's fur. "When you brought your finger towards me first thing, I was rather alarmed but that was more to do with knowing it was a lot heavier than me and was coming quite fast."
"Fast?" She seemed incredulous. "I was taking my time." You put a hand on your chest as you think that if she was taking her time what would she have considered fast.
"But when you said 'good morning' to me," You continue, "I was somewhat reassured but then I was more awestruck by how vast you are." You spread your arms as you say this. Emily now smiles embarrassingly.
"We can continue sorting this out later." Mother says. "Right now your breakfast's getting cold." She turns about and carries you to the table, Emily following closely behind. "Mommy," Emily asks, "Suppose Alice really is from a different world? Suppose the Alice we've known is now living her life?" These words strike home for you. You think about an alternative version of yourself waking up somewhere that gives her more independence but also a lot more responsibility. You just have to cope with everyone being humongous, she'd have to cope with a multitude of chores and suchlike.
You think about how more awkward it would be if you had to deal with dad at this time; you strain to imagine an anthropomorphic male skunk sitting across from your mother on an even bigger scale. Fortunately you recall that...
