Being a fisherman in Port Godfried had it's occupational hazards. Besides the obvious threat of a sudden storm or choppy seas, an everyday threat were the local gang of Baharis. This pack's territory was along the coastline of Port Godfried and loved to harass the fishermen. Your father's boat had a hansdome supply of moose darts to deter them if things became too hostile, and there was a harpoon waiting in case a Bahari decided to cause a real problem.
Today is a normal day. The sun is shining bright on a lovely fall afternoon. The air is still warm, but crisp. The leaves are bright oranges and yellows and the marina is buzzing with activity. But today, you are going out to sea alone. Against your father's wishes, of course, but you were confident. However, it was time for Baharis to have their pups. And that pack was not looking forward to any visitors.
As you pilot your little tugboat out to sea, you are oblivious to this fact. You pay little attention to the circling multicolotlred masses around your boat. You continue preparing your net to toss over to catch a nice load of cod. As you step near the edge, a female with her pups eyes you with bright magenta eyes. To her, you are a threat and she would not tolerate you. Just as you lean over to toss the net, the female bursts from the water and lands halfway on the boat, causing the whole thing to jolt and tilt. You cry out and jump back from the snarling beast. Her fangs are bared and her claws left long scratches in the steel flooring. In terror, you climb up the angled boat to the bow, spotting the harpoon. The female reaches a powerful arm out and tries to snatch you up, but her claws rake the floor instead. You dinally grab the harpoon and throw it right at the monster.
The harpoon pierced her right in the fleshy part of her neck. With a strangled cry, she released the boat, making it crash back to a level position. She struggled and thrashed, her powerful tail slamming into the stern and shoving the boat violently forwards. You watch as theBahari's struggles become weaker and weaker until she completely stopped. Moments later, five pups were circling her, chirping anxiously for their mother to wake. The other members of her pack watch. You had not only killed the mother of their pack's pups, you had killed their matriarch. They then set a curse upon you.
