Tina sat in the classroom, chin in her hand, elbow on her desk, staring with bored, half-closed eyes at the front of the room, where the teacher was writing an equation on the board. The chalk slid from his hand. Tina blinked, and the chalk hadn't moved. She groaned inwardly. It was going to be one of those days. Then she saw the chalk slide from the teacher's hand and go clink on the floor. Tina's eyes widened ever so slightly as the teacher grunted and bent to retrieve it. It had to be a coincidence that she had imagined that happening right before it did.
The rest of the day, things kept happening twice. Jeff spilled milk on Peter twice, Margaret answered correctly who the fourth president of the United States was twice, and George slipped in the hallway and spilled his books on the floor twice. Yet everyone involved acted like it only happened once. Tina clenched her jaw. She wondered if she was going crazy. Crazy from boredom or school exposure. Was that possible? She almost wished it was, so she could stay home for a while. Tina glanced over at the lockers and saw Jeff shoving Bill in and shutting the door. Tina gasped, and the scene vanished.
