The next day, the unsettling fog that had clouded their minds seemed to lift, and the odd events of the previous night were nearly forgotten. Robin and John went their separate ways, sliding back into their usual routines as if nothing had happened.
At the office, Robin immersed himself in his work, the daily grind providing a comforting sense of normalcy. The flickering fluorescent lights, the hum of computers, and the constant chatter of his colleagues were all familiar and grounding.
"Morning, Robin," his coworker Nashma greeted him as she passed by his desk.
"Morning," Robin replied, his voice slightly softer than usual. He brushed a strand of brown hair behind his ear, a gesture that felt oddly natural.
"Did you do something different with your hair?" Nashma asked, tilting her head in curiosity.
Robin blinked, momentarily thrown off. "Uh, no, not really. Just... felt like letting it down today."
She smiled, nodding in approval. "It looks good on you."
"Thanks," Robin said, feeling a strange warmth at the compliment. He turned back to his computer, trying to focus on his tasks, but with the addition of a little smile.
Nashma kept stealing glances back at Robin as she studied her coworker. They never really spoke much, though Robin seemed nice enough, they just kept to themselves. She wasn't lying before, Robin's hair down did look very cute...pretty even. What bothered her at that moment was that she suddenly realized that she didn't know what Robin's pronouns were. She had always assumed Robin was a man but now she wasn't so sure but it would be too embarrassing to ask after all this time. She was going to have to check with one of her other coworkers later before she put her foot in her mouth and insulted Robin by accident.
