Josh woke before Daphne did, and he just watched her sleep. She seemed so calm and peaceful. Her eyes began to flutter open. Josh smiled warmly and greeted her with a tender kiss on her lips.
"Good morning, Daphne." said Josh
Daphne sat up and stretched.
"Good morning, Master." said Daphne
"Are you feeling better?" asked Josh
"Much better. Thanks to you, Master." said Daphne
"Good." said Josh
"Master, I want to thank you for yesterday. Sincerely. I don't know what I would have done without you there. I probably would have bottled it up like I always do. What I'm trying to say is that after yesterday, I would do anything for you. I love you, now and forever." said Daphne
As she said those last few words, her collar glowed gold, and fell apart, turning to dust as it touched the ground.
"What happened?" asked Josh
"I don't know, Master. I don't feel any different." said Daphne
Josh thought back to what Daphne said just before the collar broke. Then it hit him.
"It was no longer needed. When you said that you would do anything for me, that you loved me, that was genuinely you saying that." said Josh
