"Enough!" Sternly, I yelled.
The two boys stopped their argument and turned to me, curious as I sheathed Asura, seething with annoyance. "Let me get this straight!" Fuming, I said. "This rip which involved us being dragged here against our will, and we expected the worse. Like maybe Pandora was ringing and we had to kick it's teeth in. But nooooo, it was some kids having a 'love tiff' in their living room!"
I was pacing back and forth, making dramatic hand gestures all the while Jenny tried her best not to laugh at the situation. The two boys were clearly powerful to have opened a rip in the fabric of time and space and that they had not opened said rip intentionally but they also clearly lacked the maturity to use such power wisely. It was what infuriated me the most, power without responsibility.
"He started it!" Pointing at each other, the two boys protested.
"I'm finishing it!" Starting everyone, a booming voice commanded.
I turned to face a towering muscular man with jet black hair and fiery hazel eyes which fell onto my group and I with a certain cold calculation that even made me wince slightly. "I apologize for your rude summoning into this world, noble travelers." His voice softening, he said. "I shall make haste to return you to your point of origin once the two worlds align again."
"What do you mean once the two worlds align?" Curious, Charlie asked. "We want to go home."
"Parallel universes orbit around each other like the moon orbits our planet." Patiently, the man explained. "Once I detect that world which matches your specific energy signature, I will open the rip and send you home."
"Um... sir?" Wincing, Jenny said. "How long will that be?"
"No longer than a week, my dear child." Managing a smile, the man replied. "By the way, I am Nathan Moray; mad scientist extraordinaire." He gave a slight bow then frowned, turning to the two now clearly frightened boys. "This is my youngest son, Mat and my middle son, Tex. Rest assured, they will be severely punished for their actions in this incident."
Tex and Mat began to cry, quivering in fear. I began to wonder what punishment would await them in a world where mad science is the ruling power. I turned to Chon who seemed to be thinking along the same lines as I; we feared the worst...
